A farmer from Maharashtra named “Gyaneshwar Ote” received Rs 15 lakh out of the nowhere in his bank account on August of year 2021. Brief explaination of the incident:-

In August 2021, farmer Gyaneshwar Ote was astonished to find that his A/C was credited with no small amount but a lump sum of Rs.15 lakh – in his Jan Dhan bank account. He thought that PM Modi was fulfilling his poll promises and credited every farmer with a lump sum amount . Following this hunch, he even wrote a ‘thank you’ letter to the prime minister.

Gyaneshwar Ote, a native of Paithan taluka in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, withdrew Rs 9 lakhs from Rs 15 lakhs of his unexpected gain from his Bank of Baroda account to construct a house.

Consequences faced by Gyaneshwar Ote:-

However six months later, his dream to build a house came crashing down when the bank sent him a notice saying that the lump sum of Rs 15 lakh was mistakenly got credited to his bank account Furthermore, the bank asked him to giveaway the full amount that was deposited in his account mistakenly.

However it turns out lucky for “Gyaneshwar Ote”  that the money was actually allocated to Pimpalwadi gram panchayat for the purpose of development. After four months, the gram panchayat realised that the money meant for its use had been deposited in the account of Gyaneshwar Ote.

After the chaos:-

Speaking about the development, Gyaneshwar Ote said he had spent  Rs 9  lakh  of the total money of Rs 15 lakh only because he thought that it had been sent  by PM Modi himself as per his promises at the time of poll. While the balance Rs 6 lakh has been claimed back by the bank, he is yet to repay the Rs 9 lakh that he spent on constructing his house.
