West Bengal DA Arrears – The issue of West Bengal DA Arrears of government employees and retired government employees is one of the most talked about issues in India today. The legal case between the state government of West Bengal and state government employees regarding DA dues has been transferred from the Calcutta High Court to the Supreme Court, the highest court of India.

The case regarding West Bengal DA Arrears of West Bengal state Govt. employees has now reached the Apex Court in Delhi. The case is going to be heard in the bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice Dipankar Dutta. Advocates of state government employees and members of the Confederartion Of State Government Employees have come to Delhi participate in 14th December 2022’s hearing.

On behalf of the Confederation, it has been said that as per the order of the Supreme Court dated 5th December, they have submitted their statement in written form and a copy has been given to the State Government regarding Dearness Allowance. Everything is proved in the account submitted by the state government to the Supreme Court regarding DA arrears.

The Govt. said that if they have to give them the entire DA arrears, they might have to face a financial crisis in the future. Such pathetic situation would not have happened if statements of state government employees were given to DA every month. Many experts say, money is wasted by giving donations in various places on behalf of the government. But when it comes to paying dues to their employees, they are reminded of their financial woes.

According to the Ropa rules, the State Government has to pay DA. Dearness allowance has to be paid twice a year as per the rules of the central government.

This West Bengal DA Arrears case has been going on for the past few years. On May 20, 2022, the Calcutta High Court asked the state government to clear all West Bengal DA Arrears within 3 months. A review petition was filed by the government against it.

But that attempt was rejected by the court on 22nd September 2022 and they remained their earlier verdict. This case is now at the threshold of the Apex court.
