The retirement age of employees is increased by 3 years (Employee retirement Update). After which the accurate retirement age of the employees will be 65 years. This has been announced by the Lieutenant Governor But the final Orders are yet to be issued. It is also estimated that the final orders will be issued soon .
Incident behind the sudden decision by the lieutenant governor:-
While Addressing the inauguration of the annual youth festival at Kashmir University in Srinagar, the long pending demand of teachers concerned the Lieutenant Governor ”Manoj Sinha”. So, he took actions in his hand and discussed the issue of shortage of faculty in the university. As an immediate solution, he decided to increase the the retirement age of the faculty memebers from 62 years to 65 years. Final orders will be issued soon. (Employee retirement Update)

There was a shortage of faculty members:-
An increase in the retirement age happens to be a demand by the college faculty. In fact, there is a continuous shortage of teachers in the colleges under the University of Kashmir. After which the retirement age will be increased from 62 to 65 years. All college faculty members will now avail the benefit of this increase.

Earlier, the Lt Governor inaugurated the Annual Youth Festival at the University of Kashmir. He gave his best wishes, and conveyed that the annual festival is a great opportunity for young artistes to showcase their talent. (Employee retirement Update)

He said that the Center of Excellence of Kashmir University is promoting scientific research. The youth performing the best in this program will be given a chance to participate in the North Zone Youth Festival and later in the National Youth Festival.
