DA Increase – The matter of “DA arrears” is currently one of the most talked about issues for Govt. employees in India. Some states are not paying DA arrears to their state government employees since 2020. Also some states are increasing the amount of dearness allowance to their employees along with settlement of DA arrears. However, there is some exception to this in the case for central government employees.

Central government had increase the DA rate of the employees by 4%. DA of Government employees increase from 31% to 38% in 2022. 48 lakhs central government employees and 68 lakh pensioners were benefitted by this.
Dearness Allowance Percentage = (Average of All India Consumer Price Index numbers for last 12 months (Base year 2001=100) -115.76)/115.76)x100. The announcement of DA increase has taken the central Govt. another step up of honor. The announcement DA increase brings smile in the faces of the employees.
According to sources, DA may be increased by 3-5% this time. It is said to be implemented in March 2023. However, DR for retired employees might get increase by the same rate. The central government has not said anything specific about when the employees will get the 18 months of the DA Arrears.
