6th Pay Commission – There’s a question if the West Bengal government increase DA of state government employees at the beginning of the new year under 6th Pay Commission or not. There’s a possibility is looming in the legal battle over the DA. A section has claimed that under the 6th Pay Commission, DA of state government employees may be increased by 3%.
6th Pay Commission – Are State Govt. employees really getting DA?
The central government increases the DA of government employees twice a year. On 01.01.2021, the 6th Pay Commission had increased the DA by 3%. Since then DA has not been announced even once. One group claims that this can be done at the beginning of the New Year.
The claim of that group is that as three percent DA was given on January 1 last year, this time DA of the state government employees may be increased by the same amount. In that case, the amount of DA received by West Bengal government employees from the beginning of the New Year will be six percent.
However, the gap between the DA and the central government employees will not decrease much. Under the 7th Pay Commission, central government employees currently get DA at the rate of 38%.
When the state government is losing case on DA arrears, they might try to save some face by paying some DA. In that case, a message can be sent that the state has no problem in increasing the DA of state government employees.
But DA of the State Govt. employees under 6th Pay Commission, is not being increased due to financial crisises. The state government can use that matter in the pending DA case in the Supreme Court. Because the financial crisis of the state has been highlighted in settling DA dues.
The state government has gone to the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court’s verdict regarding the outstanding DA under 6th Pay Commission. Currently the Supreme Court is proceeding with that case.
7th Pay Commission – DA arrears issue will be resolved in this date!
